Jiu Jitsu originated in Japan but was developed in Brazil in 1925. It is a self-defence martial art and combat sport built on Grappling, wrestling, ground fighting and submission holds. It proves that a smaller and weaker individuals can defeat a more significant person by using technical variations of leverage, takedowns, joint locks, and chokeholds.
The development process an individual undergoes while training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is mental, physical, and spiritual. The combination of physicality, knowledge and self-assessment helps lay the foundation for building intelligence and character in each student. Throughout this journey, the student will learn techniques and strategies under the direction of our coaches. They will also develop an understanding of how to face and overcome high-pressure situations and find solutions to problems with the technical knowledge they have acquired.
